AIS and AUVIS Station
St Marys Tyre and Wheel Centre is registered as both an Authorised Inspection Scheme (AIS) station and an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Scheme (AUVIS) station. As such, we are able to carry out a number of different inspections for light vehicles. So whether it's time to re-register your car, have a design and identity check or maybe some necessary repairs carried out before registration, we're here to help you stay mobile.
Pink Slips
In most cases, light vehicles more than five years old will need to have a current Pink Slip before their registration can be renewed. To be sure if you need an inspection, check your registration renewal papers to see if one is required.
What we have called a Pink Slip for decades, is now known as a Safety Check. How you get one hasn't changed, as you still need to take your vehicle to a registered Authorised Inspection Scheme station.
St Marys Tyre and Wheel Centre is a registered AIS station. This means that on completion, your Pink Slip ... ooops ... Safety Check, inspection results will be electronically lodged with Service NSW, where it will be valid for six (6) months. This can also save you having to personally visit the Service NSW office.
For your convenience, once you have paid your Green Slip, you can click here and renew your vehicle's registration on line at the Service NSW website.
Blue Slips
You could find yourself in need of a Blue Slip for a number of different reasons. You may have allowed your car to become unregistered for more than three months. You may have purchased an unregistered car without any number plates or maybe a repairable write off at an auction.
In any of these circumstances, you need to have an AUVIS Inspection ... you know, what we used to call a Blue Slip. This inspection verifies that the unregistered vehicle meets all safety requirements and also makes sure it meets the required design and identity standards.
Other reasons you may need an AUVIS Inspection include any major change to the vehicles details, like a new engine, the clearance of any defect notices or if you have moved from interstate and now need to register your car in NSW.
Please be aware that the Blue Slip is only valid for forty two (42) days from when its issued. Put simply, that means you must perform a transaction with Service NSW within that time or you will need to pay to get another one.
White Slips
If your vehicle fails its Pink Slip or Blue Slip inspection, you'll be given a Repairs Needed Report. You get the picture, that's what we used to call a White Slip. Should your vehicle need any repairs to be carried out, you have fourteen (14) days in which to have the work completed.
After fourteen (14) days, the White Slip expires and then you'll need to pay to have a new Safety Check carried out.
Once all the required repairs are finished, a follow-up check is needed. It's best that you return to the same AIS or AUVIS station that failed the vehicle initially, as there would be no additional charge. Should you decide to visit a different AIS or AUVIS station you would then have to pay them for your new inspection.
