With the passing of the Motor Accident Injury Act 2017 in March last year, the reform of the CTP Green Slip Scheme became official for all NSW vehicle owners.
CTP Green Slip Concerns
Throughout 2016 and the early part of 2017, the NSW Government had consulted widely within the community to determine how best to tackle their growing concerns.
The feedback received established that most people were concerned with ever increasing premiums, how long injured people had to wait before receiving any money and the small percentage of scheme funds that actually made it to anyone that was injured.
The new Act has addressed all those concerns and much more.
CTP Green Slip Reforms
With the passing of the Act, further consultation continued with industry stakeholders before the Motor Accidents Guidelines (MAG), and Motor Accident Injuries Regulations (MAIR) could be finalised.
Furthermore, if your vehicle was registered to you for private use as at midnight 30 November 2017, you may be eligible to claim a CTP Green Slip refund for part of the premium of your insurance policy, provided it was purchased or renewed with a start date before 1 December 2017.
As a result of these CTP Green Slip Scheme reforms, over 4 million NSW vehicle owners will be eligible for a partial insurance premium refund.
